Forex kitty swells by $4.2 bn in just a week

MUMBAI: Foreign exchange (forex) reserves rose $4.2 billion during the week ended February 23, 2007 to touch $193.1 billion on strong mop-up of dollar inflows by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The central bank has amassed $13 billion to its kitty between February 2 and February 23. This is one of the highest pile-ups of reserves in such a short period. According to the latest RBI figures released in its weekly statistical supplement (WSS), forex reserves, including gold and SDR rose $4.2 billion during the week ended February 23 to touch $193,124 million. While, foreign currency assets rose $4,213 million, the value of gold and SDR in reserves remain unchanged. The reserve position with the IMF remained unchanged during the week. However, during the week, the strong pile-up in reserves has not had an impact on reserve money, as the central bank has sought to sterilise a sizeable component of inflows during the week.

Dover delivery man assaulted

Dover police are searching for two men who assaulted and robbed a delivery man Wednesday night outside a Dover apartment complex.

The victim, who was delivering Chinese food from the China King Restaurant, told police that he was walking back to his vehicle about 8:15 p.m. after dropping off an order in the J Building of the Liberty Court Apartments, when he was approached by two men.

One of the men grabbed the victim by the neck and the other began to punch him in the head, police said.

The assailants, described as being in their 20s, then took a sum of cash from the victim and ran off.

Anyone with information is asked to call Dover police at 736-7111.

Jerusalem: City of Hope

The Jews, like all of humanity, have a history of rejecting God's truth. When Christ walked the Earth, He condemned them for killing the prophets who brought God's message. Christ also prophesied how Jerusalem would be destroyed if they didn't repent.

About 39 years after His prophecy, the Jews were invaded by the Romans. Multiple thousands were slaughtered, others were enslaved, their temple was burned, and the city was left in a heap of rubble.

The Roman general who conquered them said he could never have done so had they not been so bitterly divided. There were three main factions fighting each other for control of the city. One faction even burned most of their food. Josephus records how that act led to the worst kind of cannibalism.

The Jews are also extremely divided today.

Meatloaf, Mexican style

Cynthia Lehr of Tequesta, Fla., used to have a recipe for Mexican Meatloaf and has had trouble finding another one she likes as much. Madeline Fossey of Cape May, N.J., sent a recipe for a Mexican-style meatloaf that she and her family really enjoy. This meatloaf is a cinch to prepare and quite delicious. While I tested the recipe using all ground beef, ground turkey or a mixture of the two could be substituted for a more healthful alternative. I recommend serving it with mashed potatoes or Spanish rice and a green vegetable. You will have a tasty twist on an old-fashioned comfort food in no time. MEXICAN MEATLOAF 1 1/2 pounds ground beef or ground turkey one 6.8-ounce package Spanish rice 1 egg, lightly beaten 1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes with jalapeos one 8-ounce package shredded Mexican four-cheese blend (divided use) 1 or 2 jalapeo peppers, minced (optional) Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
